Proteinase K  - MBI

Description Produced by the fungus Tritirachium album Llimber. It is an endolytic protease that cleaves peptide bond at the carboxylic sides of aliphatic, aromatic or hydrophobic amino acids. Proteinase K is classified as a serine pro-tease.
Concentration Approximately 600u/ml (approx. 20mg/ml)
Unit Definition One unit of enzyme liberates Folin-positive amino acids and peptides corresponding to 1µmol tyrosine 1min at 37°C using denatured hemoglobin
Storage Buffer 50mM Tris- HCl (pH 8.0), 5mM CaCl2 and 50% glycerol
Quality Control Tested for the absence of endoexodeoxyribonucleases and ribonucleases
Applications Inactivation of DNases and RNases when isolating DNA and RNA from tissues or cell lines
Determination of enzyme localization
Improving cloning efficiency of PCR products
